Whinstone Faerie House has a dramatic, moorland character entirely its own — dark grey-green and charcoal stones cover the walls in a close, weather-worn mosaic, cool and elemental, as though gathered from the highest and most exposed part of the mountain. Against all that dark stone, vivid chartreuse-yellow gems ring both round windows and sweep in a full, unbroken arc around the arched doorway, blazing with the electric intensity of gorse flowers caught in low winter light. On the left wall, a small flower mosaic in amethyst purple and emerald green blooms quietly — the one soft, hidden note in an otherwise bold and self-assured face. A warm honey-gold stone beside the door glows like the last ember of an open fire.

This is a home of the high moorland — belonging to a faerie who is entirely at home in the wide, exposed places, who knows the mountain in all its moods and prefers the wild ones, and who has decorated with exactly the colours the hillside itself uses in January. Elemental, vivid and utterly sure of itself.

Handcrafted from dark grey-green stones gathered on Mangerton Mountain in County Kerry, the walls carry the mountain's most weathered, open-sky character. The vivid yellow gem rings, hidden amethyst flower, warm accent stone, mossy lichen-covered bark upright, and sharply pitched reclaimed slate roof give Whinstone Faerie House its wonderfully moorland-dark, vividly alive character.
